Lions-Falcons suspended after serious injury to Detroit’s Morice Norris

The preseason game between the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons was suspended in the fourth quarter Friday night after Lions safety Morice Norris was taken off the field in an ambulance with a serious injury.

Norris appeared to take an inadvertent knee to the head while attempting to make a tackle on a running play by Falcons running back Nathan Carter with 14:50 remaining in the quarter.

Norris was down on the field for an extended period as players from both teams joined hands in unison.

The clock continued to run, with the officiating crew announcing that the game was suspended at the 6:19 mark of the fourth quarter, citing a call out of the New York league office.

ESPN’s Eric Woodyard contributed to this report.
