The fan is watching you — and it’s doing its best to keep you cool. At CES 2025, I stood still as a room fan detected my presence and pivoted to focus on me. It was a welcome relief, especially on a stuffy trade show floor.

Dreo’s motion-sensing fan, the PolyFan 707S, can tell when someone’s in the room, and even detect multiple people. I watched the motion-sensing bar as its lights shifted from green to red, indicating where both I and the Dreo representative stood within its field of vision. When she stepped aside, the fan locked its focus solely on me.

The fan uses millimeter-wave radar to track the occupants of a room and adjust its direction. With a 150-degree range of vision and oscillation, it can cover nearly the entire room when placed in a corner.

Plus, aside from the motion sensing, the PolyFan 707S is smarter than your average fan in other ways, too. It connects to Dreo’s app, allowing you to control it from wherever you are. It’s also compatible with Google Home, Apple HomeKit and Alexa. The price isn’t available yet, but a Dreo rep told me to expect it to run between $150 and $200 when it launches in May 2025.

A tower fan that also heats

I watched as a different Dreo tower fan transformed into a space heater and then back into a fan. The secret lies in a mechanical heating device that slides into the front of the fan component of Dreo’s MC706 2-in-1 tower fan and heater. It moves like a large, slow, and bulky piece of machinery — reminiscent of the retracting door to Jabba the Hutt’s palace in Star Wars.

The fan quickly pivots from blowing cool air (although this isn’t an air conditioner, just a fan) to blowing hot air. Dreo says it can make that changeover in just a couple of seconds. The heater packs 1500W of power and comes with overheat protection and tip-over detection, like you’d want from any space heater.

It comes equipped with a thermostat that lets you set the temperature anywhere between 41 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and it also includes a remote for added convenience.

The MC706 is already on salewith an MSRP of $170.

A small space heater for the whole room

If you’re looking for a more affordable space heater that can warm an entire room while sitting on a table or desk, I got a last look at one more upcoming Dreo product that fits the bill. It’s a circulating space heater — SH615 — and it’s expected to retail for around $100, a rep told me.

As a circulating space heater, it functions like a compact fan with a built-in heating element. Instead of simply oscillating back and forth, it uses 3D rotation to distribute warm air throughout the room at various angles. Its small size makes it ideal for placing on a desk or table, where it can provide steady, soothing heat.
