The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, a source told ESPN.

The Seahawks are in need of receiving help for new quarterback Sam Darnold after agreeing to trade DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers and releasing Tyler Lockett.

In Seattle, Valdes-Scantling will be reunited with Klint Kubiak, the new Seahawks offensive coordinator who was Valdes-Scantling’s offensive coordinator last season with the New Orleans Saints.

Valdes-Scantling, 30, signed with the Saints in October after he was released by the Buffalo Bills midseason. He replaced an injured Rashid Shaheed and became the Saints’ primary deep threat receiver last season.

He caught only two passes in his six games with the Bills last season before his release. However, he quickly became one of Derek Carr’s main targets in New Orleans. In eight games for the Saints, Valdes-Scantling caught 17 passes for 385 yards and four touchdowns, which led a heavily depleted wide receiver room. He had two touchdowns off just three receptions in a Week 9 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Valdes-Scantling, who is going into his eighth season, is coming off a season where he had a career-high 22.6 yards-per-catch in New Orleans.

Valdes-Scantling was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the 5th round of the 2018 NFL draft. He spent four seasons there before signing a three-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. He helped win two Super Bowls there and was released after two seasons.

He has 205 receptions for 3,566 yards and 20 touchdowns in seven seasons.
