FC Dallas Lets New Archive Collection Third Jersey Slip in Social Media Photo – SportsLogos.Net News
Major League Soccer side FC Dallas may have accidentally on purpose given fans a sneak peek at its new third jersey thanks to a photo posted to social media this week.
Just before the team’s match against the San Jose Earthquakes kicked off on Wednesday, June 25, FC Dallas posted a photo to their social media channels of former player Chris Richards — who now plays for Crystal Palace of the English Premier League — in the stands at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, along with his U.S. national team and Crystal Palace teammate Matt Turner.
But of particular interest is the jersey Richards is wearing in the photo. It appears to be FC Dallas’s yet-to-be-officially-released third jersey for 2025, which is part of this season’s adidas x MLS Archive Collection. It features the crest and wordmark of the Dallas Burn, FC Dallas’s predecessor and one of the original clubs to take part in MLS’s inaugural season in 1996.
While the lighting in the photo is a little bright, it appears the black base of the jersey has horizontal stripes across the front in the original shade of red the Burn used in 1996 and outlined in their original shade of green. The Burn crest, featuring a fire-breathing horse, sits on the left chest, while a Burn wordmark from 1996 is on the front of the shirt.
The sleeve cuffs are red with a green stripe through the centre, while the V-neck collar is black with a white stripe at the front. The adidas shoulder stripes appear to be green.
This isn’t the first new Archive Collection shirt to quote-unquote “leak” this season. In May, singer Noah Kahan was photographed on stage at a benefit concert in Columbus, Ohio, wearing the Columbus Crew’s purported Archive Collection shirt. Photos from the concert were posted to the Crew’s official social media channels.
The MLS x Adidas Archive Collection debuted in 2024 with third kits for five teams: LA Galaxy, Sporting Kansas City, Portland Timbers, Los Angeles Football Club and Inter Miami.
Other 2025 Archive Collection jerseys have yet to be unveiled, but based on a social media post from the Colorado Rapids (see below), they’re likely to be released in mid-July. Leaked images circulating have shown a San Jose Clash throwback jersey for the San Jose Earthquakes. There are also rumours going around that every MLS team will get a third kit at some point in the 2025 season.
