The Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Thursday they’ll both wear throwback uniforms during their Oct. 5 matchup, as they’re both celebrating their 50th season this fall after joining the NFL as expansion franchises in 1976.

The Seahawks will be outfitted in their 1990s-era throwback uniforms, which feature silver helmets with a totem-style logo, royal blue jerseys with the same logo wrapped around the sleeves, silver pants with green, white and royal blue stripes down the sides and royal blue socks.

Seattle reintroduced the uniforms, which were originally worn from 1983-2001, ahead of the 2023 season. They are 2-2 in the design since, including a win over the Cleveland Browns and loss to the Dallas Cowboys in 2023 and a win over the Denver Broncos and loss to the San Francisco 49ers in 2024.

The Buccaneers, meanwhile, will counter with the 1976 white road version of their creamsicle throwback uniforms, which were officially unveiled earlier this week and will debut during their Sept. 21 home opener against the New York Jets.

The uniforms feature white helmets with Bucco Bruce logo on the sides and white jerseys with fluorescent orange numbers outlined in red. There are also fluorescent orange and red stripes on the sleeves, helmets and pants, as well as fluorescent orange socks.

Overall, the uniform matchup does not quite recreate but closely resembles their Oct. 17, 1976, meeting, which saw the Seahawks capture the first win in franchise history with a 13-10 victory over the winless Buccaneers. Seattle did not have royal blue facemasks or the totem-style sleeve logos at that time.
