There’s a new uniform in the 305.

This morning, the Miami Marlins officially unveiled their second City Connect uniform, a new black-heavy design that combines the neon lights of Miami with subtle nods to the team’s past.

The new “Retrowave” uniform is black with a “MIAMI” wordmark across the chest in teal, with black and pink trim. This Miami lettering is in the same typeface as the original Marlins—not what they wore on their uniforms, but what they used in their logos.

Below the wordmark is the player’s number in teal, black, and pink, placed on the lower left side of the jersey. The sleeves feature a thick pink stripe at the cuff and a recoloured Marlins logo on one arm. This updated patch includes the team’s present-day marlin next to an “M,” now reworked to match the look and shape of that throwback-style “MIAMI” lettering on the chest. The opposite sleeve includes a recoloured version of the ADT sponsorship patch, presented now in teal and pink to blend in with the rest of the design.

Behind everything is a series of pink and teal horizontal lines across the black jersey base, a new visual take on pinstripes, as the team describes. This is meant to echo the neon skyline and the overall visual motion of the city.

The cap is black, with Miami’s area code, 305, on the crown in teal with black and pink trim—the team’s current marlin icon is shown leaping through the “0.” This marks the first time a Major League Baseball team has worn its local area code on its ballcap. The visor features a teal-to-pink gradient.

“Our new Retrowave uniform combines the Marlins rich history with an innovative, forward-thinking approach that mirrors our organization’s trajectory,” said Caroline O’Connor, Miami Marlins President of Business. “We aimed to celebrate our club’s storied past and special moments made in the teal, while looking forward to a bright future, all woven in a style that embodies the spirit of South Florida.”

The uniform includes a jock tag reading “From the Beaches to the Ballpark.”

This uniform will replace the Marlins original City Connect design, a tribute to the Havana Sugar Kings, which debuted in 2021.

With this unveiling, the Marlins become the sixth team in 2025 to reveal a City Connect 2.0 uniform, joining the Astros, Nationals, Giants, Rockies, and White Sox. The Arizona Diamondbacks and Boston Red Sox are now on the clock. The Marlins will debut this new set this weekend on May 3rd.
