Break out the low-rise jeans and the Von Dutch trucker hats, because the Western Hockey League’s Medicine Hat Tigers brought back their own late 1990s/early 2000s throwback look over the weekend.

On Saturday, March 15, the Tigers busted out replicas of their home white jerseys from around Y2K for a game against the Red Deer Rebels. The most prominent feature of the jerseys was the orange-and-black tiger striping with grey outlines that ran around the waist, forearms and socks.

The uniforms also featured the Tigers’ logo from 1998 to 2003 on the chest, with a pouncing tiger holding a hockey stick that’s intertwined with the “S” in the “TIGERS” wordmark. A secondary logo with a swiping tiger sat on each shoulder.

On the back and sleeves, black brush stroke numbers (similar to those used by the Tampa Bay Lightning from 1995 to 2001) had white and orange outlines. Names on the back were set in a black block font.

The uniforms did the trick for the Tigers, as they defeated Red Deer 7-3. Top 2026 NHL Draft prospect Gavin McKenna notched three goals and four assists in the win.
