Attention Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders: Check to see if you received a $50 Chase Travel credit offer

If you opened a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (see rates and fees) in the past year, you might have an unexpected travel treat waiting in your inbox.

On June 23, some cardholders (myself included) received a targeted email from Chase with the subject line “Introducing Points Boost on Chase Travel.” While the headline focused on Chase’s new Points Boost program, a closer look revealed a surprise: a one-time $50 credit toward any purchase made through Chase Travel℠. (And yes, that’s in addition to the card’s standard $50 annual hotel credit.)

Who’s eligible, and what are the terms? Here’s a closer look at the offer details.

Who received the offer?

This targeted offer appears to be aimed at cardmembers who opened the Sapphire Preferred within the past 12 months. If that’s you, check your inbox. If you did receive the offer, you’ll have plenty of time to take advantage of it. According to the terms and conditions, the $50 credit can be redeemed on a Chase Travel booking made anytime between now and June 23, 2026.

How it works

To receive the credit, you have to book eligible travel through the Chase Travel portal — which includes flights, hotels, rental cars and vacation packages. There’s no minimum spending or specific type of travel required. So long as the booking is made through Chase’s travel portal, you’ll be automatically reimbursed up to $50.

This offer is incredibly flexible. Unlike some travel credits that apply only to hotels or require strategic timing, this can be used across any Chase Travel booking, including on cheaper domestic flights and car rentals.

How is this different from the $50 annual hotel credit?

If you’re already a Sapphire Preferred cardholder, you’ll likely know about the card’s built-in $50 annual hotel credit, which applies each year when you book a hotel through Chase Travel.

The key difference here is that the hotel credit is recurring each year and only applies to prepaid hotel stays. This new $50 credit is a one-time perk for new cardmembers and can be used on any Chase Travel booking, not just hotels.

In short:

  • $50 hotel credit: Applies every year, but only to prepaid hotel bookings
  • New $50 travel credit: Applies once to any Chase Travel purchase if you opened your card in the past year

If you qualify for both, you could essentially stack the two credits for up to $100 in travel savings this year.

Bottom line

This offer is a nice bonus for recent Sapphire Preferred applicants, especially since it can be used however you like through Chase Travel. While it won’t show up in your card’s benefits page or portal, keep an eye on your inbox if you applied in the past 12 months. And if you did receive the offer, be sure to book by June 23, 2026, to take advantage of the extra $50 in travel savings.
